Compliance Jobs

This week we begin with an ending: Scott Sullivan has parted ways with Newmont Corp., where he had been chief integrity and compliance officer from 2019 until earlier this year. Sullivan just turned up on LinkedIn to say that he’s looking for his next thing.

Boston Pharmaceuticals has hired Jennifer Scalise-Mullett as vice president of compliance. Scalise-Mullett comes to the (you guessed it) Boston-based company from Innoviva Speciality Therapeutics, where she had been senior director of compliance since 2023.

Spartan Capital Securities, a financial services firm catering to high-net worth individuals (so I’m not a customer), has hired Theo Basis as chief compliance officer. Basis joins Spartan from Laidlaw & Co., where he had been chief compliance officer since 2021.

Jack Thomas has joined Pittsburgh-based FNB Corp., parent of First National Bank, as senior vice president and internal audit director. Thomas comes to FNB after 18 months at consulting firm Kroll; prior to that he had been a senior internal audit executive at PNC Corp.

Misty Sauceda has joined Synergy One Lending as a senior regulatory manager. Sauceda previously worked at Mortgage Express Corp. as a compliance manager since 2019.

Norsk Hydro has hired Claudio Scatena as compliance officer for its Brazil operations. Scatena previously worked at consulting firm KYD360 working on GRC and data analytics projects.

Stéphanie Dominguez has joined French transportation and logistics giant CMA CGM as director of ethics and compliance. Dominguez comes to CMA after five years at KPMG’s French operations, where most recently she was a senior manager in the firm’s compliance practice.

Another from France: Alexandre Pavone has joined insurance firm Groupe Covéa as internal auditor. Pavone previously worked for Swiss Life’s France subsidiary as senior financial controller.

Insurance company Group 1001 has hired Max Herman as IT audit manager. Herman comes to the Indiana-based company from advisory firm Johnson Lambert, where he had been a senior associate in the business advisory services practice.

Maximus, a software startup working in government administration, has hired Zai Lighthouse as project manager for global ethics and compliance. Lighthouse previously worked at W.R. Grace for a few years as senior compliance analyst.

Bolt.com, an e-commerce software provider, has hired L.C. Dawson as chief compliance officer. Dawson had been doing solo consulting for a while, and previously had been head of financial crimes compliance at HackerOne until 2023.

One from Germany: Karim Hassani has joined banking software startup Swan as compliance manager for Germany and France. Hassani comes to Swan from HomeToGo, where he had been compliance officer.

In Denmark, Capgemini Invent has hired Tommaso DiCarlo as head of data-driven finance risk and compliance (which immediately makes one wonder whether the firm has someone else in charge of compliance that isn’t data driven). DiCarlo had previously been head of product for Intercompany.io, a software firm working on transfer pricing issues.

And Tecpetrol, an oil & gas company in Argentina, has hired Matias di Rago as internal audit senior manager. Di Rago comes to the company after a long career at Techint Engineering & Construction, where most recently he was senior manager of business conduct compliance.

Moving Up the Ladder

The promotions this week start with AbbVie, which just promoted Stephen Lawniczak from vice president of compliance to chief ethics and compliance officer. Lawniczak has been with AbbVie for 14 years.

Pepsico has promoted Luz Gómez-Haro from senior director of ethics and compliance global programs to chief ethics and compliance officer for Latin America. She’s based in Mexico City.

Gilead Sciences has promoted Ron Sukamato from director of compliance audit to senior director.

Microsoft has promoted Roland Castagner from environmental compliance and operations assurance manager to senior compliance manager.

Axis Bank, one of the big banks in India, has promoted Mayuresh Rothe from vice president for mid-corporate credit to senior vice president and risk and compliance officer for Axis’ retail portfolio.

Crédit Agricole has promoted Tiago Duarte from team lead for U.K. compliance to head of U.K. compliance. He’s based in London, as one would be for this sort of role.

German digital bank N26 has promoted Deni Tahiraj from senior technical delivery manager to GRC program manager.

German delivery software firm Delivery Hero has promoted Sholpan Niyazbayeva from director of internal audit to senior director of global GRC.

ScionHealth has promoted William Chiles from ethics and compliance officer to regional compliance officer for the U.S. southwest.

Yokogawa Middle East & Africa, a machinery and equipment manufacturer based in Bahrain, has promoted Mahmoud Zedan from head of internal control to chief compliance officer and head of business ethics.

HCA Florida Brandon Hospital has promoted Nancy Inanir from director of nursing to ethics and compliance officer. Excellent promotion; I’m sure someone with deep experience in operations will have keen insights into the business process and ethics challenges employees face.

And Cim Finance, a financial services firm in the offshore tax haven of Mauritius, has promoted Shaheen Bundhoo from senior manager of internal audit to head of internal audit.
