Compliance Jobs Report: May 2

The Compliance Jobs Report is back for the first time in two weeks, so we have tons of updates! We have new hires at UPS, OpenAI, DocuSign, Johnson & Johnson, Assa Abloy, and many more. We also have party photos from a recent compliance conference in Ukraine, plus job leads in microchips, healthcare, and family planning. Meme of the Week goes out to legal!

Always remember that we need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! You can easily find updates from your LinkedIn contacts by visiting the My Network tab on your own profile and then checking the Stay in Touch option at the top of that page.

We also take any other gossip you might have, even confidentially. If you have a tip to pass along, email me at [email protected] or find me on LinkedIn.

Compliance Jobs

This week we begin with Mia Reini, who just turned up at UPS as a senior manager for the compliance and ethics team. Reini had last been at Home Depot, where she was director of corporate compliance and ethics until late 2023; then stepped away to go through treatment for thyroid cancer. Delighted to see she has come through that successfully and is back into the best profession around.

Next is a changing of the compliance guard at cryptocurrency giant Coinbase. First, Melissa Strait is stepping down as chief compliance officer, a job she has held since 2021. Succeeding her as CCO is Joseph Salama, who comes to Coinbase after 15 years in various roles at Deutsche Bank. Most recently Salama had been global head of anti-financial crimes compliance. No word yet on what Strait might do next.

Resorts World Las Vegas, operator of several Hilton hotels on the Vegas Strip, has hired Jennifer Roberts as chief compliance officer. Roberts previously worked as general counsel for WynnBET, the online gambling part of the Wynn Resorts empire; she joins Resorts World after the company reached a settlement with Nevada gambling regulators for poor compliance practices

compliance jobsLisa LeCointe-Cephas has joined Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine as chief compliance officer. She comes to J&J after a year at DLA Piper, where she was co-chair of the firm’s life sciences practice; earlier in her career she spent six years as a senior compliance executive at Merck.

Assa Abloy, the Swedish building materials manufacturer, has hired Anders Börjesson as chief compliance officer. Börjesson comes to Assa from Ericsson, where he had been global compliance counsel.

OpenAI just hired Nicole Diaz as associate general counsel, where she will work with chief compliance officer Scott Schools to build out the company’s ethics and compliance program. Diaz joins OpenAI after seven years at Snap, most recently as global head of integrity and compliance.

Hemma Lomax has been hired by DocuSign as deputy general counsel and global head of ethics and compliance. Lomax had previously worked at ZenDesk as associate general counsel and head of integrity, governance, risk, and compliance; reliable sources tell me that yes, new employees sign their onboarding forms using DocuSign.

Samantha Bloch is parting ways with mining business Newmont Corp., where she had held various ethics and compliance roles since 2021. Bloch says she is going to spend the next few months studying to pass the Colorado bar exam, and we’ll see what happens after that. Bloch is the second compliance exec to leave Newmont lately; her boss Scott Sullivan stepped down as chief integrity and compliance officer last month.

Trimont, provider of commercial real estate loan services, has hired Jaime Thompson as executive director of internal audit. Thompson comes to the Atlanta-based company from the delightfully named accounting firm Pinion, where she had been a principal in the non-financial audit and assurance practice since 2022.

Remember Sheila Fischer Kernan, last seen at Salesforce.com, where she had been global head of HR compliance until last October? She just turned up at McKinsey (which had a large FCPA settlement last year), where she will be the global employment and labor compliance leader.

Construction firm Chaparral Co. has hired Hamilton Lindley as vice president of compliance and risk. Lindley comes to Chaparral — and with a name like that, you know the company is based in Texas — from Neighborly, where he most recently had been director of compliance.

SoLo Funds, a community lending platform based in Los Angeles, has hired Dwight Maxwell as senior director of compliance. Maxwell comes to the firm from Achieve, a “digital personal finance company,” where he had been senior director of compliance and risk.

OKX, a cryptocurrency trading platform, has hired Jonathan Brockmeier as chief compliance officer. Brockmeier comes to OKX after four years at Zepz, a cross-border payments business, where he had also been chief compliance officer.

Kristin Hayes-Griffin has left Great Lakes Credit Union, where she had been senior manager for risk and compliance since 2019. Next up: she has joined A+ Federal Credit Union as director of enterprise risk management.

U.S. Heart and Vascular has hired Wendy Henoch as vice president of compliance and privacy officer. Henoch joins U.S. Heart after two years at Better Life Partners, where she had been head of quality and compliance.

Michael Sekoni has retired from Emergent Holdings, an insurance firm based in Michigan, where he had been general auditor since 2017. Sekoni spent more than 35 years in various anti-fraud, audit, and compliance roles, and we wish him well.

Philip Kashin has returned to GEICO as a compliance supervisor for regulatory examinations. Kashin had lately been at Bartley Financial Advisers as a financial “paraplanner,” but from the 2010s into the early 2020s he held various roles at GEICO and most recently had been a senior systems compliance analyst.

Deniz Tudor has joined Chatham Financial as director of controls, working on data, reporting, financial, and operational risk. Tudor comes to the Pennsylvania financial firm from Bread Financial, where she had been head of model risk.

Darja Galante has joined telecom giant Veon as head of compliance operations and strategy in Dubai. Galante previously worked at Lixil, a home electronics manufacturer, as ethics and compliance lead for the Asia-Pacific region.

And Jeanine Jiganti, these days chief regulatory counsel at Walmart and a long-time corporate compliance executive, has been named to the board of trustees for the State Universities Retirement System in Illinois.

Party Pics

This week we give a special shout to our compliance colleagues in Ukraine! Several dozen ethics and compliance professionals (at least) gathered in Kyiv last week for Ukraine’s Compliance Leadership Forum 2025. Tatiana Kyryk, chief ethics and compliance officer at Kyivstar, was one of the speakers and posted the photo below. Love to see the compliance community there reflecting the indomitable spirit of the Ukrainian people.

Open Req Orders

Microchip giant ASML is recruiting a chief ethics officer. Job is based in the Netherlands town of Veldhoven (just about the opposite end of the country from Amsterdam, but it’s a small country); no salary range listed.

UnitedHealth Group is looking for a vice president of compliance and AI governance. Job is based in Eden Prairie, Minn., with a salary range of $192,000 to $365,000 (which shows just how emerging a job like this is).

Planned Parenthood of Michigan is looking for a director of risk and compliance. Job is based in Ann Arbor, Mich., with an annual salary of $100,000.
