Compliance Jobs

This week we begin in the grocery aisle: Martha Sarra is retiring from supermarket giant Kroger, where she had been chief ethics and compliance officer since 2011. Sarra has also worked at Kroger in various legal roles before that, going back to 1998. Succeeding her as CCO is Nicholas Gonzales. He has been health compliance officer at Kroger since 2023 and first joined the company in 2016. 

Sanofi has hired Cara Laurello as compliance officer and strategic business partner. Laurello comes to the pharmaceutical giant from Aspen Aerogels, where she had been chief compliance officer for the last year. 

John O’Connell has joined Moneycorp as chief risk and compliance officer. O’Connell comes to the global payments firm from Bank Negara Indonesia, where he was chief compliance officer for the bank’s U.S. operations, beefing up its transaction monitoring program. 

Remember Deborah Butler, head of cybersecurity and third-party risk at Truist until 2024? She just turned up at Citizens Financial as chief privacy officer. Butler had been doing consulting work in the intervening year at Carrow Consulting, working on data management issues with corporate clients. 

Dallas-based Parkland Health has hired Melissa Stokes as senior consultant for compliance programs. Stokes previously worked at McKesson for two years as a senior privacy specialist. 

Thurston Springer, a registered investment advisory firm based in Florida, has hired Jeff Halvosa as chief compliance officer. Halvosa comes to the firm (and its affiliate broker-dealer, Peak Brokerage) from TradePMR, an RIA services firm, where he had also been chief compliance officer. 

Mobile phone giant Veon has hired Mohamed Aziz as global head of ethics, compliance, culture, and engagement, working from the company’s headquarters in Dubai. Aziz previously spent several years at Siemens, where he most recently was head of compliance for the Middle East region.

Amcor, a packaging and containers manufacturer based in Germany, has hired Fatima LaBrie as manager of global trade compliance for the company’s U.S. operations. LaBrie comes to Amcor after 23 years at Berry Plastics, most of them working in similar trade compliance roles. 

Sheridan Leake has joined the Oklahoma Department of Health as director of compliance and risk management. Leake comes to the agency after two years at Paycom, an HR software business based in Oklahoma City, where she handled risk and compliance issues. 

Kasturi Venkatesh has been hired at Lucid Motors as an ethics and compliance program manager. Venkatesh comes to Lucid after three years at professional services firm WSP, where she had been an ethics and compliance manager. 

Harvinder Hothi has joined logistics firm Kuehne+Nagel as national compliance manager for the United Kingdom and Ireland. Hothi had previously worked at  consumer goods company Reckitt until last year, where she had been senior global ethics and compliance manager. 

Citibank has hired Weronika Kulesza as a compliance analyst, working at the bank’s operations center in Poland. Kulesz previously spent three years at PwC Polska in the financial crimes practice. 

Greek financial services firm Eurobank Equities Investments has hired Eftychia Alikakou as a compliance and risk associate. Alikakou previously worked at CNIL Aifm, another Greek investment firm, as a compliance assistant.

And Dennis Algiere, chief compliance officer at Rhode Island community bank Washington Trust, has been nominated to serve on Rhode Island’s state board of education. Algiere had also been a long-time state senator until he left office in 2023. 

Moving Up the Ladder

State Street Global Advisors has promoted Rebecca Babbitt from head of business controls for the Americas region of the institutional clients group to managing director and head of global business controls. 

BNY has promoted Chloe Atkins from manager of AML compliance to vice president of compliance and control. 

Hudson Valley Credit Union has promoted Michael Burke from vice president of internal audit to senior vice president of the same. 

G-P, a provider of HR software and services, has expanded Tiffany Cruz’s role from director of employment counsel to director of employment counsel and health & safety compliance. 

Oakwood Village, a hospice care system headquartered in Wisconsin, has promoted Sue Husom from hospice clinical director to vice president of clinical compliance. 

Otis Elevator has promoted Alper Caliskan from senior manager for code and compliance to director of code, strategy, and compliance. 

Finnish investment firm Evli has promoted Kim Lindberg from risk officer to chief audit executive.

And Belgian utility Fluxys has promoted Marilyn Rainchon from prevention adviser to corporate auditor.

Vendors & Service Providers

Johannes Dittrich has left his job as chief compliance officer at Vitesco Technologies, a German auto parts manufacturer, to join U.K.  law firm Linklaters; he’ll be head of the firm’s risk advisory practice for Europe.

Jeff Domingo has left Kiniksa Pharmaceuticals, where he had been senior compliance director since 2021, to join consulting firm Ankura, also as a senior director. 

Open Req Orders

American Express is looking for a manager of its ethics office. Job can be located in either New York City or Phoenix, with a salary range of $80,000 to $155,000.

Trinity Industries is looking for an ethics and compliance program manager. Job is based in Dallas; no salary range listed.

Fanatics, the online gambling site, is looking for a vice president of compliance. Job is based in New York City, with a salary range of $275,000 to $325,000. Looks like this job has been open since March and was recently re-advertised.
