Dispatches From SCCE 2025

That’s a wrap on the Society of Corporate Compliance & Ethics 2025 conference, where more than 1,200 people gathered to swap tips about corporate compliance programs, hear from keynote speakers talking big ideas, and swipe swag from several dozen vendors. As always, we have a roundup of social media dispatches for those who couldn’t attend in person.

The conference itself took place in Nashville, so we had lots of references to country music. Garth Jordan, newly named chief executive of SCCE (and its sister organization the Health Care Compliance Association) made his debut on Monday, welcoming in the crowd and praising the compliance profession.

And we’re off! Note the full house and the guitar as stage prop in the background, which I believe is legally required for all conferences held in Nashville. That’s Jordan on stage.

Plenty of sessions offered clever new approaches on timeless issues, such as one session on Tuesday morning titled, “Compliance Clash: Debating Unpopular Opinions,’ seen below.

How long has the compliance profession been around? Long enough that now even your kid might be a fellow compliance officer joining you on stage!

There’s more to corporate compliance than the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. This session touched on sanctions, tariffs, enforcement from overseas regulators, and more. There’s the guitar again.

Shout out to the many vendors at SCCE, too, who kept attendees entertained with numerous swanky cocktail receptions in the evening. My invitation to this particular event must’ve been lost in the mail but it looks fun.

Practical tips to tackle real problems were all over the place, such as this suggestion for how to deal with senior managers who’d rather not put awkward conclusions in writing.

Another practical suggestion for building effective compliance programs.

Some sessions went to the high-brow and literate end of the spectrum, such as this “Dancing With the Dragons” idea that promised attendees would be “guided us in a waltz of ideas, gliding through graceful twists and turns until we found our solutions.” OK, but no actual dragons? Bummer.

Artificial agenda featured prominently in many sessions, such as this one on Monday afternoon. Again with the guitar.

The above posts only scratch the surface of everything that was discussed and debated during the day or imbibed in the evening. Congratulations to the SCCE team for another job well done, and mark your calendars for the SCCE 2026 conference happening next September in Orlando!
