Compliance Jobs Report: Nov. 7

This week the Compliance Jobs Report has compliance promotions to note at Netflix, Wood, State Street, Bristol Myers, and elsewhere; plus new hiring at Lloyds, AIG, Pernod Ricard, Novartis, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, and more. (We also have rumors of cutbacks at HPE.) Job leads are in surgical products, food, and law firms; plus our Meme of the Week!

We also take any other gossip you might have, even confidentially. If you have a tip to pass along, email me at [email protected] or find me on LinkedIn.

Compliance Jobs

This week we begin with exits: Martin Espinosa has stepped down as chief audit executive at Juniper Networks now that Juniper’s merger into HPE is complete. HPE also just announced a restructuring (read: cost-cutting) program and I’m hearing that more job cuts are coming to the remaining internal audit team. A good time to pick up good talent if you’re looking for help.

Lloyds North America has hired Anne Hilton as chief compliance officer. Hilton had previously been deputy chief compliance officer at ScotiaBank until earlier this spring.

AIG has hired Lee Ann Almeida as a compliance officer in the global financial crimes group. Almeida previously worked at JPMorgan Chase for a few years as an associate for global conflicts.

Liz Barry has been hired by hedge fund giant Citadel, where she will be head of equities compliance. Barry previously worked at FINRA for a year in market regulation and transparency services; before that she was at ScotiaBank for a few years working on supervision and internal control issues.

Pernod Ricard, maker of Absolut Vodka, Chivas Regal, and numerous other spirits responsible for many long nights at compliance conferences, has hired Dave Renn as senior manager for regulatory compliance. Renn comes to Pernod after five years at the Bardstown Bourbon Co., where he was director of compliance.

Howard Locker has been hired at Vertex Pharmaceuticals as director of business partner compliance. Locker comes to Vertex after eight years at the Justice Department, most recently in Boston (where Vertex is based) working in the Criminal Division’s healthcare fraud unit. Nice talent pickup for Vertex, but watching the brain drain from the Justice Department these days is painful.

Speaking of pharmaceuticals, Novartis has hired Sandrine Pauquet as a senior compliance manager in Switzerland. Pauquet previously worked at KPMG Switzerland for 10 years, most recently as senior manager in the tax advisory practice.

Clarience Technologies, maker of vehicle lights, cameras, and other safety equipment, has hired Stephen Swiech as director of global trade compliance. Swiech joins the Michigan-based company from Valeo, where he had been U.S. customs manager for five years.

Laura Schillo has joined Everbank as senior compliance director. Schillo comes to the Florida-based financial firm from Crowley, where she had been director of ethics and compliance.

Aiera, a financial market intelligence firm, has hired Michelle Roxby as director of risk and compliance. Roxby previously worked at Citibank for 13 years, most recently as head of research access.

Miltenyi Biomedicine, a German biopharma company developing cancer treatments, has hired Melissa Hunt as healthcare compliance officer. Hunt comes to Miltenyi from Gamida Cell Ltd., a Boston-area biotech, where she had been head of compliance and legal.

PayPal has hired Morgan Fuller as compliance manager. Fuller previously worked at Capital One as senior manager for the compliance advisory group.

Joshua Biles has landed at Boeing as senior governance, risk, and compliance officer. Biles comes to the airplane manufacturer after two years at IBM, where he was head of risk and controls frameworks.

Healthcare IT firm Cotiviti has hired Keith Hosmer as vice president of contract compliance audit operations. Hosner comes to Cotiviti after nearly nine years at PRGX Global, where he most recently had been senior director of contract compliance.

Two hires of note at KeyBank! First, the bank has hired Megan Lugg as senior compliance manager; grabbing Lugg away from Pinnacle Financial Partners, where she had been compliance monitoring and testing for seven years. Second, Taylor Sesny has joined as a lead financial crimes investigator. Sesney previously worked at AML RightSource, an anti-money laundering compliance vendor, as a senior analyst.

Russell Kramer has joined pharmaceutical wholesaler giant McKesson as a compliance and ethics specialist. Kramer previously worked at the Drug Enforcement Agency and just retired as a special agent in charge.

Lindsay Leamon has left Rocket Mortgage after 13 years there, most recently as a senior team leader for quality control. Next up: Leamon moved to real estate analytics giant Zillow, where she is a senior compliance analyst.

TabaPay, a fintech startup “on a mission to make instant payments simple and universal,” has hired Greg Thomas as a compliance specialist. Thomas comes to the Silicon Valley firm from Shopify, where he had been senior analyst for trust and safety operations.

Designated Wealth Management, a wealth management firm (duh) in Ontario, has hired Kevin Mark as vice president of compliance. Mark comes to the firm from Manulife Wealth, where he had been senior compliance branch manager.

Manulife has promoted Tracy Leung from head of Asia distributor compensation to director of Asia product compliance. She’s based in Hong Kong.

BNY has hired Monica Hadoo as vice president of sanctions compliance and controls, working from London. Hadoo joins BNY from Union Bancaire Privée, where she had been vice president and sanctions officer.

In Lowell, Mass., Laura Feeney has joined Lowell Five Bank as vice president of compliance. Feeney had previously been senior vice president of compliance at Enterprise Bank, a bank in suburban Boston recently acquired by Rockland Trust.

And Sara Schmidt-Spharler has joined Palco, a financial firm that helps people manage their long-term care needs, as senior director of compliance. Schmidt-Spharler comes to the company from the Arkansas Department of Human Services (Palco is based in Arkansas), where she was deputy director.

Moving Up the Ladder

The Lenzig Group, a chemicals manufacturer based in Austria, has promoted André Ourivio Fernandes from co-head of compliance for Europe and the Americas to global head of compliance.

Global engineering firm Wood has promoted Kirstie Stephens from compliance counsel to chief ethics and compliance officer.

Netflix has promoted Joan Acosta Villa from principal counsel for corporate compliance to director of global ethics and compliance. One hopes she will start her new role by investigating why Season 5 of “Stranger Things” has taken so long to return.

Beth Rudofker has been promoted at State Street from head of enterprise operational and technology risk management to chief compliance and operational risk officer.

Barclays has promoted Yashvi Goenka from assistant vice president to vice president of financial crimes.

Adam Yoffie has been promoted at Bristol Myers Squibb, from head of compliance and ethics investigations and the integrity line to assistant general counsel and product counsel in BSM’s neuroscience division.

Fifth Third Bank has promoted Lucas Stroud from senior business analyst for transaction monitoring to compliance officer.

Parker Aerospace has promoted Brandon Jackson from division trade compliance manager to group export compliance manager.

Pacific Life has promoted Suzanne La Roque from director of IT, transformation, and compliance to chief compliance office.

Vendors and Service Providers

We have an update on Guillem Casòliva, who last week announced that he was leaving Booking.com after many years in ethics and compliance roles there. Turns out that he joined LRN, where he’ll be a senior ethics and compliance adviser for EMEA and Asia-Pacific.

Open Req Orders

Arthrex is looking for a director of global compliance operations. Job is based in Naples, Fla. No salary range provided because, ya know, Florida.

Food business OSI Group, which makes beef, pork, and other protein products for restaurant giants such as McDonalds, is looking for a corporate compliance manager. Job is based in suburban Chicago, which means the salary range is disclosed: $108,000 to $162,000.

Kim Urbanchuk, chief compliance officer at law firm Covington and Burling, says, “We are hiring!” for several mid-level compliance jobs, either in London or remote. You can investigate her post on LinkedIn or go directly to the firm’s careers page
