Milestones
We’re sad to note the passing of David Webb, a long-time good governance activist in Hong Kong, who died earlier this week after a long battle with cancer. He was 60. I had the pleasure of meeting Webb years ago during a business trip to Hong Kong. He will be missed.
Chris Caron has retired from Kiewit, a construction and engineering firm with operations across North America. Caron had been regional compliance manager since 2018, and spent 30 years at Kiewit in various legal and compliance roles. We wish him well.
Vendors and Service Providers
Remember Glenn Leon, head of the Fraud Section at the Justice Department until the Trump Administration sank its talons into the department last year, and chief ethics and compliance officer at Hewlett-Packard Enterprise from 2015 to 2022? He just surfaced at law firm Jenner & Block, where he will be a partner in the firm’s compliance and investigations practice. Good for him.
Sharmeen Ali Khan has parted ways with Amgen, where she spent the last 11 years in various compliance roles, most recently as global head of investigations, compliance monitoring, and trade compliance. She has joined LexDesk360, a consulting firm based in Dubai, as chief compliance counsel.
Open Req Orders
Gay dating app (Radical Compliance strives to be a family news outlet, so that’s what we’re calling it) Grindr is looking for a head of privacy. Job can be based in either Los Angeles or San Francisco, with a salary range of $218,000 to $337,000 depending on the city. Unclear whether you get free use of the app as part of the package.
Fannie Mae is seeking an ethics and compliance risk principal. Job is based in Washington, D.C., with a salary range of $172,000 to $234,000. This would be the same Fannie Mae that fired its ethics team last November on the orders of housing regulator Bill Pulte, political hatchet man for President Trump, after the team started investigating complaints against one of Pulte’s favorites. But hey, if you want to apply to a place like that, that’s your journey.
BeOne Medicines is looking for a director of global R&D compliance. Job can be remote, although the company’s headquarters is in Cambridge, Mass. Salary range is $193,000 to $253,000.
